Hot Take: Branding is the Most Important Aspect of Your Product.
Honestly, it’s not just important—it’s everything.
Your service or product could cure world hunger, but if your branding’s a flop, good luck getting people to notice. A strong brand shapes perception, builds trust, and positions your company as something people can’t live without. No pressure, right?
To make sure we nail it, I break the branding process up into five phases…
Defining the Vision (“Core”)
It’s important to have a strong foundation for your brand’s vision; spanning its purpose, mission, and overall values. Once those are defined, research is your best friend to gauge market perception and validate your overall brand concept.
Messaging (“Voice”)
Similar to how creating products is more than “making things pretty,” so is branding. It’s important to solidify a consistent brand personality through the voice & tone of its messaging, as well as a clear & strong value proposition.
Accessibility (“Compliance”)
This is where the value I add to your brand really shines; I ensure it resonates universally by embedding accessibility directly into your messaging & visuals. Together, we make sure every user feels valued, regardless of whether they have a disability or specific interaction preferences (like using dark mode). Learn more about why inclusive design matters.
Visual Representation (“Identity”)
Not gonna’ lie—this is my absolute favorite part! Your brand’s visuals bring its personality to life. Your logo, colors, typography, and photography should all be reflective of the vision and values we previously outlined.
And remember, every visual aspect should also be accessible to everyone! Just because an ad might be printed instead of digital doesn’t change the fact the reader may be color blind…so make sure that CTA is visible!
Guidelines (“Application”)
Strong & consistent branding helps customers connect with your company on a deeper level.
Outlining and enforcing a consistent representation of your brand across all marketing materials builds brand recognition, strengthens customer loyalty, and projects a professional image.
Why I Believe “Good Branding” = Full Cycle Design
Because every brand deserves more than just a shiny logo. Every brand should be a champion for equal user access, at any touchpoint. Every product detail should uphold a brand’s values. Good branding covers everything.
Branding is about crafting a story that sticks—from the primary brand color to the last user interaction. A good brand strategy isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. And trust me, you don’t want your strategy to feel like it skipped leg day at the gym.
Branding Goes Far Beyond Your Logo.
