Going All-in with a Full Page Ad for a Big Feature
Cision needed a print ad to represent their new Social Demographics feature in their Media Database software. This ad was to appear in multiple event brochures and PR publications, so it needed to be detailed enough to explain the benefits of the new feature, but simple enough so it could be quickly resized in multiple aspect ratios & page dimensions. We didn’t want to have to eliminate any content if a page was small vs. large, so we decided to move forward with a colorful splash image and minimal copy.
My contributions to this project included:
- Art Direction
- Layout Design
- Print Production accross multiple publications and sizes

A Quick Note on Advertising & the Print Industry:
I don’t believe print is completely dead—it’s just become a very niche need. Honestly, print projects are probably something you’d be better-off outsourcing, especially if you run a small business. The highly technical pre-press skill-set & knowledge it takes to prepare a file for a printer often goes unoticed, but it’s arguably the biggest part of the print process (and it’s becoming more expensive to employ these specialists by the day). I consider this group the “developers of the print world.” Without them, the artwork designers create would never see the light of day on paper.
I can handle most production work myself, but if you’re feeling fancy and it’s time to call in the power-lifters, I’ll reach out to my network which includes some of the best print & production artists out there.
